Return to Step 2 - Pick TV type

Step 2 - I have a HD TV.

Step 3 - I want to use a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt output.

Step 4 - Select a solution for you.

Solution #1 - Use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable.

A Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt to HDMI cable can carry both the video and audio signals to your HD TV. It is a fully digital solution so it will provide the highest possible picture quality.
Plug the cable into the Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt output of your computer and into a HDMI input on your HD TV. HDMI cables come in various lengths so you won't need to put the computer right next to the TV.

Solution #2 - Use a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter.

A Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt to VGA adapter can carry the video signal but you will need to use a separate audio cable to send sound to your HD TV.
You will also need a VGA cable to go between the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and your HD TV.

To play your computer's audio through the TV use a 3.5mm stereo cable. Plug it into your computer's speaker out and into the PC audio in next to the VGA or RGB PC input on the HD TV.
