We have a two solutions for you.

Solution #1. - Use Apple TV

AppleTV will allow you to wirelessly mirror the screen of your iPad to a HD TV.

You will be able to sit on your couch and stream movies, videos, slideshows, play music or surf the web with your iPad and see it on your HD TV.

If you have the original iPad you will still be able to wirelessly stream movies, videos, slideshows and apps that support video out to your TV.

It is by far the easiest and most convenient way to connect your iPad to a HD TV.
To connect the Apple TV to your HD TV you will also need a HDMI cable. The HDMI cable can carry both the video and audio signals to your HD TV. It is a fully digital solution so it will provide the highest possible picture quality.

HDMI Cable

Plug the cable into the HDMI output of the Apple TV  and into a HDMI input on your HD TV.

Solution #2. - Use an Apple Digital AV Adapter

The Apple Digital AV Adapter will allow you to connect your iPad to a HD TV using HDMI cable. This will carry both video and audio to the TV.

If you have an iPad with a Lightning Connector you will need to use an Apple Lightning Digital AV adapter.

For the iPad3, iPad 2 or original iPad you must use the Apple Digital AV Adapter

This adapter will allow you to mirror the screen of your iPad 2 to your TV. If you have the original iPad you will still be able to stream movies, videos, and slideshows to your TV. It is easy to hook up but not as convenient as an Apple TV for connecting your iPad to a HD TV.
